leadbetter-grip-trainer.jpgThe most commom problem with a golfers game is their grip, the David Leadbetter Training Grip has been designed to help overcome this problem. The grip which is from the revolutionary David Leadbetter Swing Trainer is now available without the £60 price tag and can be applied to your own clubs to get the correct feel and posture.

Pure Putt Mirror

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

Pure Putt MirrorNow im certainly one of those golfers who cuts right across the ball on the putting green often meaning im dropping shots where I feel I should be picking up some points. I heard from a friend about this putting mirror and apparently it’s a great training tool, but you can be the judge of that!

The idea is that by placing your ball on the mirror you are able to correctly align your stance and posture in the shoulders, feet and head. This alignment is then supposed to help the perfect ‘pendular’ motion from the shoulders resulting in truer striking and a more consistent roll.

The cheapest I have found is from Online Golf at £15 so its not going to break the bank either.

Umbrella Plus

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

Umbrella PlusNow this I thought was a great idea, often I have thought of getting a chipping net but have never got around to it but now the Umbrella Plus™ have incorporated it into an umbrella. Not only yesterday whilst waiting for my tee slot I was chipping balls into my carry bag and then today I come across this idea!

The umbrella works by inverting it and laying it down on its side, there are tags on the outside which can be secured to the ground with tees to support the three dimensional target area. The canopy itself includes two pockets which act as targets and the missed shots will gather at the bottom of the umbrella.

The technology that has gone into the umbrella also looks impressive so it looks like it wont let you down as an umbrella when you need it either, overall then it appears quite a bargain at only £19.99? Plus the umbrella can be personalised from the Umbrella Plus website direct with company and team logo’s!

True-Putt Putter

Wednesday, September 5th, 2007

True-Putt PutterThe True-Putt training aid has been designed with pure simplicity in mind; the semi-circular attachment exaggerates off centre putting strokes showing you just how far off the sweet spot your stroke truly is.

A perfect ball strike will come from striking directly in the sweet spot resulting in a true roll with no spin on the ball. Off centre strikes will hinder the stability and consistency in your putts, a miss of up to as little as 3mm from the sweet spot is enough to affect the distance and accuracy of a putt!

The True-Putt therefore has been designed as a simple visual aid to analyse your putter swing and ball striking. And at only £5.99 seems a great investment when you look at the prices some of the other training aids on the market!

Swing Speed Radar

Monday, August 6th, 2007

Swing Speed RadarEver wondered how fast your swing is? I know I certainly have and im sure many other golfers out there do too. The pros have long recognized the value of monitoring their swing speed and golf ball speed, which they use to determine the type of clubs they use and the suitability of different shafts.

Swing speed is not dependant on how hard your swinging but the speed at impact which your club face is travelling through the back of the golf ball. This is the true measure of how solid you are really hitting the ball.

The Pro’s are constantly tweaking their equipment; in particular their shafts are optimized to suit their swings. And now if you have a spare £70 you can finally use your swing speed to custom fit your next set of irons or driver!

Tempotimer

Saturday, August 4th, 2007

TempotimerAnother training aid endorsed by Ernie Els, this is the Tempotimer a weighted aid designed to strap onto any iron or driver and is designed to develop your swing plane and club speed. The strategic placement of weight is used to get the club down into the hitting area on the right plane and corrects the dreaded over the top action which most of us have had at one time or another.

The Tempotimer is basing itself on the similar technology used in the Momentus Swing Trainer with extra weight forcing the downswing along the correct plane; however the Tempotimer can be applied to individual clubs.

Ernie Els Golf Swing Ball Trainer

Monday, June 11th, 2007

Ernie Els Golf Swing Ball TrainerYet another swing trainer product, this one endorsed by Ernie Els. The ball is designed to develop core strength and stability through the trunk and torso. The swing ball trainer is aimed at developing movement from the core body to move the club head rather than reliance on the wrists and therefore keeping the club on a consistent plane.

The ball is aimed at every golfer of any ability, the results from only a few minutes a day is the training of golf specific muscles which in turn will condition the physical body for optimal golf performance.

A little expensive perhaps for what it is at £50 but with similar products such as the Leadbetter Swing Trainer at around £60 if it gets the results then it could be money well spent!

David Leadbetter Swing Setter

Sunday, March 25th, 2007

Six minutes, twice a week is the promise with the Swing Setter for an improvement to your golf swing, improving your striking, distance, accuracy and consistency. There are several swing trainer products on the market but word of mouth has this one as the best.

I have always used the Momentus Swing Trainer and was a firm believer in this tool. I have more recently purchased the Swing Setter and must say I have been very impressed. I have always found I have a different swing for my driver to my irons, and as a result have consistently struggled to bring them all together on the course. I have only been using the Swing Setter for 3 weeks now but there has already been a noticed improvement in my swing. My tempo has certainly been more consistent and my ball striking has improved as a result.

With its variable weighting to cover a number different styles of golf swings and tempos the Swing Setter is certainly an impressive training tool and well worth the £59 I paid for it. I am confident with more practice this tool is only going to improve my game and is definitely the best swing aid I have ever used.

The cheapest I have found is £59.95 form American Golf.
