New Ping V2 Rapture

Friday, August 15th, 2008

If you’re a Ping fan then expect to be very excited… the guys at Today’s Golfer have shared with us the exclusive new Ping Rapture V2 range and the S57 irons.

Ping’s new range has promised to become their ‘top of the range’ irons and the new S57 irons are the answer to the ‘better’ players iron.

I have to say they look fantastic and I cannot wait to get my hands on them!

V2 Rapture Irons

The V2 Rapture irons are following very much down the line of the G5/G10 irons with a large, forgiving sole and thick top lines which are going to accommodate a whole range of golfers.

Ping have described the Ping Rapture V2 irons as ‘Innovative Game improvement’ clubs that feature stronger loft angles for better distance and oversized heads for maximum forgiveness.

These new V2 Raptures are due to hit the shops in the Autumn and we can be expected to pay £120 per iron for the steel shafts, obviously not going to be the cheapest set around!!

See the Today’s Golfer demo video here

V2 Rapture driver

The new 460cc Rapture V2 Driver is also expected to hit the shops in the Autumn, the 460cc dirver cinsists a titanium and tungsten head with external weighting pads designed to offer the maximum forgiveness and lowest spin rate in the ping range.

The driver is set to come in 9, 10.5, 12 and 13.5 degrees and be around the £310 mark. The guys over at Today’s Golfer have been lucky enough to test the 10.5 degree and they seem convinced already! Needless to say then that I cant wait to write my own review on this one when the rest of us get a chance!

See the exclusive, first hit video of the V2 driver ….

S57 Irons

s57.bmp

The S57 irons are the new players irons in the ping range, the irons not only look fantastic but the verticle stabalising bars are there to offer consistent ball flight whilst still maintaining some forgiveness on the off centre shots.

The S57 irons are due for relaease in early September and again are likely to be priced individually at around the £90 mark.

Padraig does it again

Monday, August 11th, 2008

The man is on fire lately after retaining his british open title he has managed to hold off Sergio Garcia to win the UPSPGA at Oakland Hills. This was truely a memorable victory and a finishing few holes which were just as memorable, I cant wait for Tiger to come back so Padraig can pitch himelf against the worlds number one.

Harrington does the double

Monday, July 21st, 2008

As much as I was routing for Poulter you just cant help but be happy for Harrington. He played some truely fantastic golf over the four days and in the end truely deserved his victory in some trying conditions.

And lets just hope Poulter will build on this finish and finally close on a major.

Good Old British Summer

Saturday, July 19th, 2008

As expected the rain is somewhat slowing down the play at the Royal Birkdale. But this has at least thrown a suprise with Greg Norman sharing the lead with KJ Choi. With the weekend weather hopefully forecasted to be somewhat better lets hope there going to be some great golf to come.

See the leaderboard here.
