Black Golf Balls

Friday, June 29th, 2007

Black Golf BallsBlack Golf Balls! Well what can I say, although they may well be impractical they do look pretty cool, plus they are 100% legal having been R&A and USGA approved. The black ball with its two-piece construction and a black heat-retentive surlyn cover is designed to make the ball more visible in the air and faster than traditional white balls.

The interesting fact of this ball is the ‘science’ behind it, if u can call this science! – The black ball absorbs the heat from the sun’s rays, therefore in flight will reduce the density of the surrounding air and thus give it a more aerodynamic flight, producing greater distances. Of course this ‘technology’ is restricted to summers days but nonetheless is an interesting concept.

R/C Golf Incred-a-Ball

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

R/C Golf Incred-a-BallThis is the first remote controlled golf ball I have seen, I have seen the weighted balls which roll off at all angles but this ball is directonally controlled by a remote.

The R/C incred-a-ball works best on flat smooth surfaces such as greens and fairways and will be a sure laugh for those golfers who are not taking the game too seriously! At £12.95 is not too expensive and could be good for a crack if nothing else!

Technasonic Check Go Ball Spinner

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2007

The Check-GO, an ingenious gimmick or the answer to so many unexplained occurrences! The idea is that no golf ball is manufactured perfectly round; they are naturally, even without being hit lopsided! Believe that or not! The Check-GO therefore is the answer by realigning the ball by spinning it at an impressive 10,000 revolutions per minute evenly distributing the weight and shape of the ball itself.

This may well be a fantastic product but it may also be a fantastic gimmick! I’m not too sure but if the technology behind this is true then it sounds like a great piece of kit! However at only £24.95 I cant see the harm in giving it a go and see if it can save me those extra strokes!

Nike One Black

Tuesday, March 20th, 2007

Now I am certainly not one for buying expensive balls but I was offered a sleeve of the Nike One Black balls and thought I would give them a try. Overall I was very impressed, most of all with the stopping distance achieved on the greens, one bounce and the Nike One Black would grip and stop, even with the low irons into the green.

The ball offered good distance and durability, and not one mark having played 18 holes with it so straight back in the bag it went! At £23.99 from Onlinegolf.co.uk they are cheaper than some of the other balls which offer similar benefits.

All in all a very impressive ball, no longer will I be using whatever is in the bottom of my bag but heading for a ball which offers both the distance i like and the feel around the green.
