TaylorMade R9 Preview

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

Now I’m a big fan of the R7 range and needless to say that I’m very much looking forward to the imminent release of the TaylorMade R9 Driver.

The new TaylorMade R9 will be fully adjustable, and will combine three moveable weights with a new Taylormade technology, called Flight Control Technology.

This TaylorMade R9 thereefore is following other driver manufacturers in making the club head adjustable into eight different positions, similar to the technology behind the new Nike SQ Dymo allowing you to promote a draw or fade, depending on your desired shot shape.

With the release date not until March I was quite surprised therefore to find someone has somehow managed to get their hands on one and kindly post a video on You Tube.

Taylormade R7 Draw Limited

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008

r7.jpgThis new R7 Draw Limited is quite possibly the best driver I’ve hit yet! The crisp sound, the light pick up and the deep cones head make this club a pleasure to hit. The distance is there and the noise off the club face is probably enough to persuade anyone to buy this club!

The TaylorMade r7 Limited Driver features Moveable Weight Technology with three ports which promote changes in trajectory up to 35 yards from left to right or right to left to optimise shot shape and distance. This massive draw option on this club means that this is going to be very popular with the ‘slicers out there, as this new R7 offers the largest draw setting in the TaylorMade range.

That being said even with the weight at standard setting this driver is long and achieves a good loft angle off the tee. All in all this is an amazing driver and A relative bargain at £235 when compared to the price of others on the market.

New Cobra L5V Driver

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

cobra.bmpThe new adjustable Cobra L5V driver is sure to be an instant hit with the mid to high handicappers. With Cobra’s new adjustable flight technology it has two flight bias settings allowing standard and draw setups.

The new driver has been built with the Cobra Dual Rhombus Face Insert Technology which allows for superb forgiveness of the tee and with the centre of gravity pushed even further back on this new driver the clubhead produces a higher launch angle and much lower spin, helping to achieve greater accuracy and distance.

The best option this driver has is pottentially its ability to change its shafts, with over 30 custom shaft options available this driver really is targetting a wide audience.

Have a look at the review from Today’s Golfer below and judge for yourself….

Should be hitting the shops around 1st November and expect to pay around £330.

Nike SQ Dymo Drivers

Friday, October 3rd, 2008

dymo.bmpNike have released the new SQ Dymo, a driver with much promise as its set to replace the current Sumo range, a driver which has been massively successful and very popular. The SQ Dymo continues to be available in the standard or square head versions and the square version has pushed even more weight placed deep into the corners off the head to offer great stability and forgiveness while the round version.

The most exciting aspect of this range is however not the SQ Dymo but another new range, the SQ Dymo STR8-FIT driver. This thing sounds impressive and if successul may well become the benchmark for all future drivers. It is called the STR8 for a very good reason …. It has eight settings, there is the option to set it up with a 2 degrees closed or 2 degrees open face and different lie angles too which will allow golfers of different heights to find the best set up possible.

The possibilities this club opens are endless… the driver can be tweaked to different courses, different shots? I cannot wait to see how this is going to work and how this will fit into the rules of golf!

Check out today’s golfers first hit demo of the SQ Dymo below which should be hitting the shops mid to late October at around £260.00 and click here for their review.

New Ping V2 Rapture

Friday, August 15th, 2008

If you’re a Ping fan then expect to be very excited… the guys at Today’s Golfer have shared with us the exclusive new Ping Rapture V2 range and the S57 irons.

Ping’s new range has promised to become their ‘top of the range’ irons and the new S57 irons are the answer to the ‘better’ players iron.

I have to say they look fantastic and I cannot wait to get my hands on them!

V2 Rapture Irons

The V2 Rapture irons are following very much down the line of the G5/G10 irons with a large, forgiving sole and thick top lines which are going to accommodate a whole range of golfers.

Ping have described the Ping Rapture V2 irons as ‘Innovative Game improvement’ clubs that feature stronger loft angles for better distance and oversized heads for maximum forgiveness.

These new V2 Raptures are due to hit the shops in the Autumn and we can be expected to pay £120 per iron for the steel shafts, obviously not going to be the cheapest set around!!

See the Today’s Golfer demo video here

V2 Rapture driver

The new 460cc Rapture V2 Driver is also expected to hit the shops in the Autumn, the 460cc dirver cinsists a titanium and tungsten head with external weighting pads designed to offer the maximum forgiveness and lowest spin rate in the ping range.

The driver is set to come in 9, 10.5, 12 and 13.5 degrees and be around the £310 mark. The guys over at Today’s Golfer have been lucky enough to test the 10.5 degree and they seem convinced already! Needless to say then that I cant wait to write my own review on this one when the rest of us get a chance!

See the exclusive, first hit video of the V2 driver ….

S57 Irons

s57.bmp

The S57 irons are the new players irons in the ping range, the irons not only look fantastic but the verticle stabalising bars are there to offer consistent ball flight whilst still maintaining some forgiveness on the off centre shots.

The S57 irons are due for relaease in early September and again are likely to be priced individually at around the £90 mark.

Titleist 905R Driver

Sunday, August 3rd, 2008

9052.jpgLooking for a tour proven driver from one of the biggest and best names in golf today, then the 905R driver from Titleist is a must try. This ball crushing driver is a benchmark for the all Titleist drivers, with its enormous pear shaped head and huge multi –spotted sweet spots this is a great driver for players of all abilities.

The 905r is the driver of choice of Zach Johnson and was used when he won the 2007 Maters at Augusta.

Titleist’s new 900 range drivers with their distinctive pear shaped profile and shallow face sit naturally square to address to give instant confidence. The 460cc head offers greater forgiveness and its sweet spot is 35% larger than some of its smaller companions.

The altered weight distribution provides the 905R a deeper centre of gravity and more spin than the 905T. The 905R also offers higher spin and a higher launch angle than the 905S offering greater consistency in trajectory path for players not looking for a low launch angle.

The 905R comes in a selection of lofts and shafts which are capable of optimising launch conditions to custom fit each golfer.

This is a quality driver and has proven results on tour.

Only £150 from online golf in their clearance, down from a rrp of £350 that’s over 50% off.

Cobra M Speed LD 2008 Driver

Friday, July 25th, 2008

cobra1.jpgPossibly the easiest driver I have hit in a very long time, this Cobra M Speed LD driver not only looks great and sounds great but its offset shaft and draw setup makes it a pleasure to play with.

The technology behind this driver makes for an interesting read, with its enhanced fast back crown, deep dimples and large face with milled dual rhombus insert combine to maximise distance and accuracy a high MOI, extra high launch, mid spin and super fast clubface enable a reliable contact and a purer sound on impace every time.

Now I’ve only used this club the once, but I found it so easy to hit especially as I have the Sumo in my bag this therefore came as a bit suprise. I think this club deserves a second try and I cant reccomend it enough.

Via Online Golf for only £180 its very good value for money too.

TaylorMade Rescue Club

Friday, April 18th, 2008

taylormade.bmpLooking for a quality rescue club but not looking to break the bank then this TaylorMade Rescue Wood is ideal with a massive 57% off the RRP. This TaylorMade Rescue Wood was one of the original and best when it was first released, winning best utility club of 2003 (bit old I know but hey!) and is still selling and being used today.

These woods have been designed to be easy to hit and a solution to getting out of those difficult situations with a bit of distance too. The the centre of gravity is pushed right to the back of the club allowing it to produce a high launch angle generating both distance and spin control. The double crown used on these woods are used to enhance the hitting power by minimising distortion on impact and maintain the transfer of force, allowing you to get the ball up in the air quickly and easily.

These rescue woods are a popular choice with players of all abilities, from novices to tour pro’s and this TaylorMade Rescue Wood is a great example at a great price!
