Cornwall could become the destination of the Ryder cup after a £100 million plan has been approved by the Caradon District Council. The redevelopment will include 265 new luxury golf homes and the refurbishment of the St Mellion Golf and Country Club hotel in Cornwall.

The £100 million spent by the St Mellion owners is likely to attract top golf events such as the English Open for years to come.

The plans however have come under scrutiny form local residents who are opposed to the pollution which will result from the development and the sustained impact on the local environment.
